Soaps for Special Skincare
Although all our soaps are made with moisturising oils and butters some people just can't use soaps with fragrance or colour. For sensitive skins we have made two very special soaps, Calendula and Shea With Aloe Vera. Neither have any added colour or fragrance and each of them has 20% of Shea butter added for extra moisturising. We cannot claim that these soaps will cure eczema or psoriasis but we can say that we have many repeat customers who say that these soaps help with their skin problems.
We'va additionally included on this page several other soaps which contain ingredients with particular skincare properties.
Calendula
Like the Aloe Vera below, we've designed this soap especially for people with sensitive skins and feedback has been extremely good. Most people who react badly to soaps do so because of syntheric chemical additives or the fragrance used. We don't use chemical additives in any of our soaps, and in this one we use no fragrance or colour either. We do however use twice as much of our wild-grown, naturally moisturising Shea Butter as in most of our other soaps, and infuse the olive oil used in the soap with Calendula petals, well known for their therapeutic properties. The result is an exceptionally gentle, creamy and moisturising bar.

Shea with Aloe Vera
As with the Calendula above, we've designed this soap especially for use with sensitive skins. The recipe is in fact very similar to the Calendula except that instead of using calendula petals with the olive oil, we've added a generous helping of organic aloe vera juice, known to be cooling and soothing.
Once again, the result is an exceptionally gentle, creamy and moisturising bar.

Seaweed with Aloe Vera
Seaweed is full of essential minerals and is renowned as a skin revitaliser with healing, nourishing and detoxifying qualities. We've used kelp and carragheen and have added some soothing, gentle organic aloe vera to our usual moisturising mix of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and wild-grown Shea Butter. The fresh ocean fragrance comes from a combination of Pine, Rosemary and Peppermint essential oils.

Nettle with Mint
Nettles have long been used in herbal medicine for a variety of skin conditions, and it wasn't all that long ago that beating oneself with nettles was a traditional folk remedy for arthritis and rheumatism. Happily, we don't insist that you go that far! Instead, we've taken home grown nettles harvested in late spring from the bottom of our garden and combined them with some sprigs of mint (also from the garden!) to give a fresh herbal soap. As well as olive oil and shea butter, added avocado and castor oils give extra creamy smoothness while a touch of peppermint essential oil provides the fragrance.

Goatsmilk with Lavender
Goats' Milk is a traditional beauty product and is renowned for its highly nourishing qualities. Rich, gentle and naturally homogenised, it makes a wonderfully creamy soap especially when combined with our Extra Virgin olive Oil and wild-grown unrefined Shea Butter. Lavender essential oil provides the fragrance.
Sorry - this soap is currently out of stock - the next batch should be ready in mid March.

Gentle Baby Soap
Another soap for which we've received many requests, this gentle cleansing soap is suitable for the most tender skin. We've made it using a very generous portion of our mild, moisturising wild-grown Shea Butter, together with a combination of Organic oils including Organic Olive Oil which has been infused with Calendula petals. There is no added colour or fragrance. We recommend that the soap is not applied directly the baby's skin - instead, we suggest that you first rub a little soap in water to obtain a mild lather, then wash baby with the resultant soapy water and wash off. As with the facial soap, this is sold in 85g bars rather than the usual 100g, reflecting the extra cost of the organic ingredients. (Picture to follow)
